Seoul — orbit of departure
Every voyage begins from a known orbit. This expedition set out from Seoul — the moment of deciding to leave the familiar and head into the unknown.
Hi, I'm Ethan. So far I'm the only crew member to have launched from this orbit.
Why this voyage exists
When I committed to the 2026 Bosphorus swim, I didn't know a single other Korean doing it. Rather than train quietly alone, I decided to make the preparation public — so a future swimmer can start one step ahead, and because the people who'd enjoy a trip like this are the people I want to meet.

Plan backwards from the June 12, 2026 cutoff:
Health report signed by a physician
Letter from your swim coach
Coach's certified diploma
Swimming license (federation-issued)
The license is the highest-risk item — it has the longest lead time if you don't already hold one.
Is this for you?
Time — 4–5 sessions/week for the months leading up
Money — entry €650, direct flights from Seoul ~₩1.2M, plus accommodation
Body — physician-cleared, no respiratory or cardiac contraindications
Skill — comfortable with 1.5 km continuous open-water swimming, ideally more
Passion — for the kind of trip that's mostly suffering and a small amount of magic

2026-05-06 — committing in public
Today I committed publicly. Flights are booked, entry is paid, this site is live. The qualification documents are due June 12 and I haven't started any of them. The plan is to log everything here as it happens — wins, doubts, miscalculations.
